Travel back in time to explore the fascinating story of slate and be part of the lives of those who quarried it in this stunning national museum, located in Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon.
More a slice of life that a museum! Walk through authentic engineering workshops including smithy, saw-sheds and foundry where much of the machinery needed to sustain the quarry was produced.
Wander through Fron Haul, our terrace of quarrymen’s homes where you’ll get a taste of what home life was like for the quarrymen’s families.
Enjoy live demonstrations of traditional skills such as splitting and dressing slate and blacksmithing.
